How To Create A Google Business Profile

Updated over a week ago

Short Answer

Go to google.com/business, sign in with a Google account, add your business (storefront or service-area), complete your basics (name, category, phone, website, hours), verify, then keep it fresh with photos and reviews. In Rebolt, connect it in Social Media → Settings so you can post and use the GBP Optimizer.

Overview

A Google Business Profile (GBP) controls how your company appears in Google Search and Maps. Verified profiles help customers discover you, build trust, and drive calls, website visits, directions, and reviews. Rebolt integrates with GBP so you can post automatically and get optimization guidance.

Before You Start

  • Google account: Use a company Google account (or create one) you’ll keep long-term.

  • Business details ready: Legal business name, phone, website URL, service areas or address, hours, logo/brand photos.

  • Decide your type:

    • Storefront (customers visit you); list a street address.

    • Service-area business (you go to customers). Hide address and list cities/counties/ZIPs you serve.

    • Both: show address and service areas.

Step-By-Step: Create Your Profile

  1. Visit: go to google.com/business and click Start Now.

  2. Sign in with your Google account.

  3. Business name: enter your exact name (match invoices, domain, and Rebolt).

  4. Business type: choose Storefront or Service area.

  5. Address / Service Areas:

    • Storefront: enter the full street address.

    • Service Area: select up to 20 areas (cities/counties/ZIPs).

  6. Primary category: pick the closest match (e.g., Landscaper, Plumber).

  7. Contact details: add phone and website (your Rebolt domain).

  8. Finish the intake and proceed to verification.

Already exists? If Google shows an existing profile, click Request access/Claim this business and follow the prompts.

Verify Your Business

Google may offer one or more methods:

  • Instant / Email / Phone (fastest when available)

  • Postcard to your address (arrives in ~5–14 days)

  • Video / Live video call (for some business types)

Enter the code (or complete the video flow) to unlock full editing.

Optimize The Essentials

After verification, round out the profile:

  • Categories: Keep Primary tight; add a few Additional that truly fit.

  • Hours: Set open hours and holiday hours.

  • Services: Add your key services; mirror the Services you list in Rebolt.

  • Description (250–750 chars): Mention primary service(s) + key area(s).

  • Photos & Logo: Upload a logo, cover photo, and job photos; keep adding monthly.

  • Reviews: Start collecting and replying to every review.

Connect It To Rebolt

  1. Click Connect next to Google Business Profile and follow the prompts (use the same Google account you used for GBP).

  2. Now you can:

    • Post to GBP from Social Media → Posts (or let automation prompt you for a photo + brief description on your chosen frequency).

    • Use GBP Optimizer for a Profile Score and step-by-step fixes.

Maintain & Measure

  • Post regularly: Project photos, short updates, offers, keep the feed fresh.

  • Add new photos monthly and keep services/hours current.

  • Respond to reviews quickly (both positive and negative).

  • Track results: In Rebolt Analytics and GBP Optimizer, monitor calls, website clicks, and interactions to see what’s working.

Troubleshooting

  • “This profile is already verified”: Click Request ownership and follow the recovery steps.

  • Verification stalled: Confirm address format, re-request the postcard, or try the video method if offered.

  • Edits aren’t sticking: Google may apply Updates from other sources; re-submit edits and keep information consistent everywhere (website, directories, social).

  • Service-area visibility: Add 30 service areas in Rebolt and create service/area pages; keep GBP categories and services aligned.
