How To Share Access To Your Domain On HostGator

Updated over a week ago

Short Answer

In HostGator → Customer Portal → Users & Roles, click Manage+ Add User, enter [email protected], choose a role that allows DNS management (Admin or Tech), and Invite. We’ll accept and handle the DNS updates for launch.

Overview

Adding Rebolt as a user in HostGator lets us safely update your DNS (A/CNAME) so your domain points to your new Rebolt website. Your old site isn’t deleted; after DNS changes, it simply won’t use the domain.

Steps: Invite Rebolt As a User

  1. Log in to your HostGator Customer Portal.

  2. Click the Profile icon (top-right) → select Account & Users

  3. On Accounts & Users, choose the account and click Manage.

  4. Scroll to User Roles & Permissions → click + Add User.

Customer Portal - User Roles & Permissions - + Add User
  5. Enter:

  6. Select the Role (see recommendation below).

Customer Portal - Add User Details and Role
  7. Click Invite.

    • HostGator will send the invite. After we accept, we’ll appear on your Accounts & Users page.

Recommended Role & Permissions

  • Choose a role that grants Domains/DNS access (often Admin or a Tech role with DNS permissions).

We only use this access to configure DNS for your Rebolt site and verify everything is live.

What We’ll Do With Access

  • Update A/CNAME records so your domain points to your Rebolt website.

  • Verify propagation and confirm your site is live at your brand URL.

Troubleshooting

  • Invite not received? Re-send from Users & Roles → Manage and have us check spam.

  • Wrong role assigned? Edit the user to grant a role with DNS permissions.

  • Can’t find Users & Roles? Click the Profile icon (top-right) in the Customer Portal, then select Users & Roles.
