Short Answer:
Yes. You can upload a video in a social media post, but you must also include at least one photo. Videos will post to supported social platforms, but not to Google Business Profile or your website.
Overview:
Rebolt’s social posting tools are designed to distribute your content across multiple platforms while maintaining performance, reliability, and SEO best practices. While most social platforms support video uploads, not all destinations handle video content the same way. For this reason, Rebolt applies a few safeguards when publishing posts that include videos.
Why a Photo Is Required:
When creating a post that includes a video, at least one photo must also be added. This is because Google Business Profile does not accept video posts through our posting workflow.
If a post contains only a video, it would fail on Google Business Profile. Including a photo ensures the post can still be published successfully there, using the image instead.
In short:
Social platforms like Facebook and Instagram can accept the video
Google Business Profile requires an image
Adding a photo allows the post to go out everywhere without errors
Why Videos Aren’t Posted to Your Website:
Rebolt does not publish videos directly to your website through social posts. This is intentional and done to protect your site’s performance.
Videos can significantly increase page load times, which negatively impacts:
Mobile performance scores
Core Web Vitals (LCP, FCP)
SEO and user experience
By keeping videos off the website and limiting them to social platforms, Rebolt ensures your site remains fast, efficient, and optimized for search engines.
Pro Tip: If your post includes a video, always add a strong supporting image. This guarantees the widest possible distribution while keeping your website fast and SEO-friendly.
