How To Share Access To Your Domain On Name.com

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Short Answer

Name.com doesn’t support sharing your main login. Instead, create a Sub Account (via Account Settings → Security → Sub Accounts) for Rebolt and assign the domain to that sub account so we can manage DNS.

Overview

Creating a Sub Account is the safest way to grant limited access without exposing your entire Name.com account. Once the Sub Account is created and the domain is assigned to it, Rebolt can update DNS (A/CNAME) to launch your new site.

Steps: Create a Sub Account (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your Name.com account.

  2. Click the User icon (top-right) → Settings.

  3. In Security, click Sub Accounts.

  4. Under Create New Sub Account, enter:

    • Name: Rebolt access

    • Reach out to us for the phone number and address

  5. Click Update, then Create Sub Account.

This creates a separate login for Rebolt with only the access you specify.

Assign the Domain to the Sub Account

After creating the Sub Account, give it access to the specific domain we’ll launch:

  1. Go to Domain List and open Manage for the target domain.

  2. Use Name.com’s controls to assign / grant the domain to the new Sub Account
(labeling can vary by account; look for “Share/Assign,” “Delegate,” or “Move to Sub Account”).

  3. Confirm the Sub Account now appears as a manager for that domain.

If your interface only supports moving a domain between accounts, move only the target domain to the Sub Account (not your entire portfolio).

Recommended Permissions

  • Grant permissions that allow DNS edits for the assigned domain (A/CNAME).

  • Keep access minimal; avoid billing or account-wide rights unless necessary.

What We’ll Do With Access

  • Update A/CNAME records so your domain points to your Rebolt website.

  • Verify propagation and confirm the site is live at your brand URL.

  • Send you a brief change log of updates made.

Troubleshooting

  • Don’t see Sub Accounts? Make sure you’re in Account Settings → Security → Sub Accounts.

  • Can’t assign the domain? Check the domain’s Manage screen for “Assign/Move to Sub Account,” or contact Name.com support for help delegating just that domain.

  • Invite not received? Re-create the Sub Account with the correct email ([email protected]) or resend the invite.
